Blotto Virgins Deflowered
Well, this was my first set of shows. The night before this was actually my first and that was at Reilly's in Michigan City, IN. Drove out from Omaha that day in some pretty ridiculous weather - ice storm the whole way. Come to find out, the band had some weather-related issues, too! They even left their van on the side of the road!! But, they made the show. That's how dedicated these guys are. If anyone has that show - I'd loved to get a copy of it.
This show was extra special. Had a chance to talk to the guys before the show about music and talk about how important it is to our respective lives. Looking back at the set list and looking through my pictures and videos for the night, all I can say is....... wow. What a night, everyone was movin' and groovin', the band was rock solid and having fun with it. The entire show was all about kickin' back and having a great time. Highlights for my friend were Wishing You Well (a rarity for them to play live, but they did it for her).
Highlights for me were the Playin', Jack Straw and 1 More Saturday Night run at the end, One Puff is alwasy fun, Workin' for the Man was a rock solid.
I also met some amazing people that weekend that I keep in touch with now - and I had a chance to see them in La Porte, IN the weekend before last!!
If some of you are thinking, "you drive out from Omaha, NE to Chicago and surrounding areas to see this band??"
The answer is, "yes. And I'd do it ever chance I get." I had tickets to moe at the end of Feb - but I passed on the 2nd night to go see Blotto. That's how great this group of musicians and fans is.
Get this show is you're looking to get a strong variety of their music performed well with strong energy from the crowd.
BTW - see some of you this weekend in Highwood on Friday and DeKalb on Saturday...
